Fred Perry x Gorillaz - collaboration with a virtual band
At the beginning of April, on the brand's social media Fred Perry there were information and graphics informing about cooperation with a virtual British music band - Gorillaz.
The band was formed in 1998 by Damon Albarn i Jamie Hewletta. For the first years, the creators did not appear in person at concerts, and the performances were dealt with by virtual characters: 2D (vocalist and keyboardist), Murdoc Niccals (bassist), Noodle (guitarist) and Russel Hobbs (drummer). Clint Eastwood, Feel Good Inc and even19/2000, which appeared in FIFA 2002. In addition to their musical successes, the band co-created an autobiographical book.Rise of the Ogre, and in 2009 the world premiere of the documentary entitled Bananaz. In Poland, they performed 3 times (m.inOpen'er Festival).
Quite recently, banners depicting team members in classic Fred Perry polkas appeared on social media profiles and in several major cities around the world (central London and Tokyo). More precisely, it is about the M12 model (with double, contrasting tips) and the one-color - M3. The shirts have not changed since the first project - they are still made on traditional machines in Leicester and hand-finished. The advertising campaign presents 2D in a classic white field, and the other team members in the M12 Twin Tipped model: Murdoc Niccals (Tartan Green / Ice / Red), Noodle (Brighton Ice / French Navy) and Russel Hobbs (Maroon / White / Ice).
"My first Fred Perry half wasn't really mine, it belonged to Arthur Ashe. Like the intersection of Barack Obama and Denzel Washington... he was an artist... he had style, he had an afro, he wore a pair of shorts - and of course the classic Fred Perry tennis shirt..."Russel Hobbs
To sum up briefly: Gorillaz are ideal artists, sharing a sense of independence with a British clothing brand. In addition, tNot the end of cooperation - Fred Perry has announced further projects, and the offer will be enlarged m.in sweatshirts.
