Weekend Offender - clothing inspired by terrace culture
Weekend Offender is a brand that, from day one, has operated at the intersection of football, the streets and terrace subculture. Founded in 2004 in Wales by Sam Jones and Rhydian Powell, its DNA was crystal clear right from the first drops. It was meant to be clobber for the lads who know the score and don't need to explain their style to anyone. The name Weekend Offender is no accident—it's a cheeky nod to how the British media portrayed football fans. The brand deliberately took ownership of that label and gave it a meaning of its own.
Weekend Offender gear quickly became recognizable thanks to its signature cuts, details and an approach to design that stood apart from your typical streetwear brands. It’s a style deeply rooted in real life, the terraces, the pubs and the city streets, not cooked up in some fake ad campaigns.
The history of Weekend Offender and its terrace roots
In the early days, Weekend Offender was mostly known for its outerwear, like jackets, parkas and coats. The designs were all about functionality, weather resistance and keeping you comfortable during an all-day away trip. Over time, the collections expanded to include tees, polos, sweatshirts and knitwear, which did the job perfectly as a layer under your jacket. This direction quickly became the brand's trademark.
Weekend Offender rapidly earned cult status among the lads on the terraces and fans of casual culture. The gear was everywhere - at the matches, on away days and in the pubs before and after the game. The brand's style wasn't random. It was a calculated response to the needs of a scene that values quality, subtlety and recognition without screaming, oversized logos. Today, WO has a massive following not just in Europe, but across the globe.
Recently, Weekend Offender celebrated its 20th anniversary, going back to its terrace roots, which the brand highlighted during the project with Merthyr Town FC.
