When in 2010 the size? crew teamed up with adidas Originals to add three new cities - Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow - it was the latter that stood out with the most attitude. Because Glasgow never tried to be perfect. It’s a city that wears its scars with pride. Born from DIY culture and people who don’t wait for permission to create. Musicians who played in basements long before their tracks hit BBC Radio. Artists who paint on buildings without asking first.
A limited classic with soul
The first Handball Spezial Glasgow was a tribute to that energy. Navy suede uppers, green and pink detailing, gold lettering, and a touch of tartan - only 500 pairs made. Each one carried a bit of the street and a bit of history. A shoe some loved for its boldness, others criticised for the white sole. But like Glasgow itself - no one stayed indifferent.
And that’s exactly why it’s coming back. In 2025, adidas returns to Scotland to revive a true legend. The new version features burgundy suede, light stripes and heel details inspired by the iconic King Tut’s club. A gold “Glasgow” print on the side, special anniversary insoles, and a subtle “1/2025” mark on the heel hint that this edition is both rare and exceptional.
